Mythera's completion and beginning

Let me start by saying hello and welcome. I've never created a blog, so pardon any weird stuff, but after finishing my book, I think this could be the next step in getting it noticed.

My older sister, Brii, and I started writing Mythera back when I graduated high school. I've had this puppy in my mind for much longer, seventh grade actually, but never felt good enough as a writer to write it. Brii, however, was an amazing writer! I used to hear it from all my teachers and they would then put that expectation on me. Yet my writing didn't have the pizazz that hers did. Anyway, tangents are a thing with me sometimes, she heard me describe the world I created and said "you should write that! I can help!"

Now if you have siblings you may now how it feels to be possessive of your own hobbies or ideas. At first I was hesitant but ultimately decided her skills were far better than my own. I started writing and Brii started editing, tweaking, and developing beautiful floral sentences.

Being busy with college classes, I only wrote here and there. I managed to finish up the first chapter and part of the second, introducing major characters and the idea of where the story was headed. Brii did her modifications and sent it back. I approved and would teeter in and out of adding more to the story.

Then in 2016, Brii got into a car accident and passed away. It was the worst day of my life by no stretch of the imagination. I shut my story and left it to metaphorically gather dust in the back of my mind. I would occasionally try to write more but I would become engulfed in grief and feel distraught for days after. So there it stayed, in darkness.

Much time was taken to lessen the initial sting of her loss. We were very close. She was my best friend. I even tremble a little now opening up like this on a strange new platform. I got counseling and at the start of 2020, I opened my laptop to my abandoned work, our work. I started writing and I swear at times it felt as if her spirit was over me. Words were coming out of my fingertips unlike anything I could believe that I could write. It was her!

By December of 2020, I was finished! And it was exciting to write! I truly found it therapeutic to write what Brii and I had started all that time ago. The only thing that leaves my heart hurting is that she isn't here to read it herself.

Now, it's time for me to try and get it noticed. My hopes for this blog are to attract some interest in my work, attract an agent, and then one day get published so that everyone will feel Brii's presence within our book.

So there it is! My first post. Deep breaths now.
