Author Mentor Match Submission

Well, everyone, I did it!

I just submitted the manuscript of my first book, The Lost Athenaeum. *excited squeals*

It has been long prepared. About 2 months of me reading mentor likes and dislikes, how to query, write pitch lines, edits, edits, and more edits. Now it's finally done and I anxiously wait for them to say "yay" or "nay". My fingers are crossing so hard that they look broken! I hope one of the mentors I submitted to believes in my book as my sister did.

If I'm selected, I will be given a mentor who will help me take my book to the next level of writing. Then they will help me create a query letter and submit it to agents to find representation. After that, the agent takes over and finds the publisher.

Backup plan

Just in case I don't get a mentor, I do have a backup plan(s).

1. I will find the agents on my current agent list and submit queries to them. I will then wait for their response to hopefully hook one. I assume this will take 2-3 months. If an agent requests my book and offers me representation, I will continue to pursue traditional publishing. This will result in a later book release but end up with that coveted traditional publishing market. (I've always dreamed of my book on a Barnes & Noble shelf)

2. If I do NOT hear back from any agents then I will self-publish to amazon by the summer of 2022. I've looked at their rates and they seem to have the best out there and with the farthest reach. I will sell my books individually and then as a bundle. The good thing about buying the individuals will be that you get all three of the different cover designs, but if not, you can get all books in one (although it will be more expensive). This option takes more time on my part but it will still be so worth it! Either way, Brii's and my book will be able to be read, as it was always intended.
